Fábrica do Sofá

Frequently asked

Custom sofas, lead times, fabrics and guarantees.

There is no price list: every piece is quoted individually. Cost is driven mainly by dimensions, frame and filling specification, the fabric or leather group selected (Group 2 to 7, Leather 2/3) and the wood finishes. Send us the typology and the room dimensions and we will come back with a detailed quote, with no obligation.

It depends on the condition of the frame, the fabric metreage required and the material chosen. The diagnosis comes first and carries no obligation: send photographs of the piece and its worn areas, or bring it to the factory in Freamunde. If a piece is not worth restoring, we say so.

Six to ten weeks for a made-to-measure piece, counted from order confirmation and final material selection. Turnkey projects involving joinery and site work run to their own programme, always stated in the proposal.

Yes. We produce corner sofas, chaises, sofa beds, armchairs, headboards, benches and dining chairs, adjusting width, seat depth, back height and arm profile to your space. Awkward openings and unusual ceiling heights are exactly why a made-to-measure factory exists.

We work with fabrics from Group 2 to 7 — velvet, bouclé, linen, chenille and technical stain-resistant cloths — Leather 2/3 hides, and beech, oak and walnut for exposed timber. Samples are sent out before you commit, so you can judge colour in your own light.

A tight weave with a high abrasion rating (high Martindale), ideally with a stain-resistant finish and in a mid tone. Wide-loop bouclés are best avoided, as claws catch in them. Tell us how the room is used day to day and we will point you to two or three references that hold up.

Yes to all three. Fabric, leather and wood samples are sent to any address in Portugal and Spain and couriered internationally; the showroom is in the Domóvel shopping centre in Carvalhosa, Paços de Ferreira; and we host clients, designers and architects for guided visits to the Freamunde factory by appointment.

Yes, we accept COM (Customer's Own Material) and COL for leather. The sample is validated at the factory before production starts and we confirm the metreage required for each piece.

We deliver and assemble across mainland Portugal and Spain with specialist transport, and export regularly to the United Kingdom, the European Union, North America and the Middle East, coordinating logistics from Freamunde. Incoterms and delivery conditions are set out in every proposal.

Yes — it is a large part of what we do. We build from drawings, CAD/DWG files or reference photographs, respect the project's fabric specification (COM/COL) and supply material data sheets for specification packs and site files.

Yes. We develop and produce upholstered collections for international brands, packed and labelled under their own name, under NDA. Sketch to prototype takes around three weeks; minimum order quantities, monthly capacity and phasing are agreed per model in the proposal.

Yes. For hospitality and contract work we specify commercial-grade Martindale 40,000+ fabrics and flame-retardant BS 5852 foams, and supply the technical data sheets and material certificates required for tenders and specification packs.

Payment terms are always set out in the proposal. Because every piece is made to order, production starts on order confirmation and the agreed deposit, with the balance settled before shipping.

Five years on the frame and the upholstery process, including on pieces restored in our factory. Fabrics and leathers carry the guarantees of their respective mills and tanneries.
